For those of you who want to obsess for an hour or so…my friend L sent me this link: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,22556281-661,00.html
I am evidently VERY right-brained. It took me a looooong time to see her spinning in the left brained direction.

So interesting. When I focused on her feet, I saw her moving clockwise, but when I moved my focus I saw her moving counter-clockwise. This must mean I’m simply confused easily.
Wow. I am so right brained, also. A few times I got her to slow down, but never to stop or go counter-clockwise. Most of the time she was spinning really really fast, clockwise. Hmph.
Huh.
I saw this a little while ago, and couldn’t see her as anything other than counter-clockwise.
Now, by closing my eyes and *imagining* her going one way or the other, I can generally open my eyes and see it.
Jade, this is so fascinating. I turned to it after I wrote that long comment about the Valdez oil spill and was remembering all the images and feelings and she was clearly turning clockwise, not even a question right-brained. But then, I stopped to read the instructions and as I was trying to decipher them, she was spinning counter-clockwise suddenly, out of the corner of my eye. That always interest me about reading and writing, how they are both, but I know for sure that the writer’s blocks I get into are because I get stuck in left brain mode due to anxiety and can’t shift gears into right. This is so interesting. I would love to post about this as well at some point, if that’s ok with you. I want to take a little more time to think about it. Thanks so much.
Gah, I hate that dancer. I absolutely cannot see it going anything other than anticlockwise. I try gazing at different bits, looking away and looking back, and she still spins determinedly in one direction. I am creatively doomed!
how fun. initially, she was going clockwise but now she’s going counter-clockwise. i find i can switch back and forth relatively easily. how interesting!
But HOW do you switch? I couldn’t do it no matter how hard I tried. I tried to imagine her going counterclockwise, looked at her feet, her hands, the shadows, the print… nothing worked. I’m hopelessly stuck in right brain.
subjectiveobserver: this is definitely an exercise in subjective observation
tiv: you can blog whatever you want!
Cee: It does drive you batty!
JDo: I know–and then you feel like you’re going batty again because you see her twisting back and forth!
Susan: i emailed you…it took me over an hour to see it go the other way. Yes, I had a lot of time on my hands on Saturday night.
i am SO right brained! i was convinced it was a joke until i showed it to russell and he saw her anti-clockwise. it’s so cool! i like being dream and fantasy oriented. ha!
I saw it anticlockwise at first. It took me about 5 minutes to see her going clockwise. Once that happened, my mind kept seeing both directions, back and forth! It’s insane.
