officially busy

I am…officially so busy I don’t have time to work out, I don’t have time to eat a proper dinner, and I’ve got to whittle my life down to my core priorities.  It’s going to be just work and writing.  My passion for cooking is going to be put aside, no more baking, no socializing, barely any television (except when vegging out after a long day’s work), and my vegetable garden might be a bit neglected, too.

In other news–I got my thesis back from my reader.  Funny: she liked the stories that my thesis director liked least.  And vice versa.

  1. Ugh. I’m so sick of getting mixed/opposing feedback on my writing that I don’t even feel like showing it to anyone anymore. I was told so many times to add more emotion and more reflection, so I added a bunch and it really slowed the chapters down. Now I’m taking it all back out! In the end, you have to trust your own instincts.

busy sounds good, damn good! better than being bored, which is the state I’m in. where did all my motivation to write go?

  3. It was Ray Bradbury who said, “You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.” Drink up and good luck with revising your thesis.

  4. bustopher: it’s so confusing it’s hilarious. But I do know who to trust, and I know who my audience/readers are…and yes, there’s also that bit about your own instincts!

hyunjini: I think writing doesn’t have to be an everyday thing–sometimes you need to take a break and get distance. But read! Keep reading.

Stephanie: My life is about to be reality and writing, exclusively, soon.
